This reply is late, but I noticed no-one
else has. I was on Nitrazepam for a long while; hell, I was on all
benzos for a long while, and it's probably in my top 5, maybe about
fourth? I found it euphoric, not as much as Xanax and Clonazepam, but
still definitely nice, and it didn't eat huge holes in my memory. It
did have some residual drowsiness the next morning (for me) but that
goes away rather quickly, as tolerance grows.
When I was sent to the drug clinic to start a taper schedule from benzos when I was younger, they tapered me with Nitrazepam before switching me over to valium for the final leg of it. I don't know whether there was any true method to using that over something else - we are talking about a 100+ year old doctor who used to nod off during my consultations. I think he must have been raiding the methadone/opiate cabinets!
